Annual Highway Cleanup

It's time for our annual highway cleanup in support of The Rock & Our Lady of the Hill Knights of Columbus Council!

Each year, Alberta Transportation facilitates a highway cleanup on the first Saturday in May. Charitable organizations are invited to apply to clean a stretch of highway and are paid $100.00 for each kilometer they clean. Both The Rock and our Knights of Columbus council applied and have been assigned a stretch of highway. This will be a fundraiser for both groups.

This year, the highway cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, May 3 beginning at 8:30 a.m. With sufficient volunteers, we hope to be finished by 12:30 p.m. The Rock has been assigned an 11 km stretch of Highway 625 from Highway 814 to Highway 2. The Knights of Columbus has been given a 10 km stretch on Highway 21 from Township Road 512 to Township Road 502. Many volunteers will be needed, as we are responsible for picking up garbage on both sides of these highways. The participation of Knights and their families as well as members of The Rock and their families is greatly needed.

We are also extending an invitation to any parishioners who wish to support The Rock and the K of C in this fundraising effort. The more participants, the faster the work is done. Children must be at least 9 years old to participate. Every person involved is required to watch a six-minute safety and training video, which can be emailed to everyone who has signed up. Following the cleanup, all participants are invited to gather at the church for hamburgers and hotdogs, chips, and refreshments.
